Hero of the Week! (5.22.20)
This week, we have a group of amazing organizations that all embody leadership during these tough times. First, however, we wanted to provide a little context. COVID-19 is a difficult time for so many people. Individuals, businesses, non-profits, families... this is unprecedented and it really is testing us all. We are only able to do what we do with financial support from individuals like you and the many wonderful organizations who believe in our mission.
This week, we would like to highlight a few organizations who specifically created new and unique funds to fight the financial hardships caused by COVID.
The Greater Milwaukee Foundation's MKE Responds Fund The United Way's Urgent Needs Fund The Green Bay Packers Give Back Bader Philanthropies Response to COVID-19 Fund All of these have been absolute lifelines during these troubling months. These already generous organizations went above and beyond when they realized the impact this was going to have on the communities they care about. We, and so many non-profits just like us, are beyond grateful for the leadership they've shown.
MKE Responds was created to alleviate the profound impact the coronavirus outbreak is having on Milwaukee and beyond. Philanthropic partners have come together to align resources to increase the capacity of local agencies and programs on the front lines of the pandemic to do the greatest good
United Way created this fund to provide emergency resources such as PPEs, food, cleaning supplies, and diapers. They've made such an incredible difference to the community.
Bader Philanthropies, Inc. has distributed $1.4 million in grants to help southeastern Wisconsin nonprofits provide services on the ground in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Green Bay Packers Give Back have distributed $500,000 in grants to 16 Milwaukee County nonprofit organizations. We are incredibly thankful to be among those selected. They truly are heroes on and off the field. Go Pack Go!
