For 53 years, Silver Spring Neighborhood Center has been a stabilizing presence of Milwaukee's northwest side. Silver Spring Neighborhood Center is a nonprofit social service agency whose mission is to build a safer, stronger neighborhood and community. The Center was founded on the settlement house model in 1958 to serve the residents of northwest Milwaukee and the neighboring communities. Located in the heart of Westlawn, the State of Wisconsin's largest low-income public housing development, Silver Spring Neighborhood Center serves this community as well as residents coming from many surrounding areas.
